At Metflex, we produce a wide range of bespoke gaskets in a range of Polymers including Silicone and Nitrile these gaskets are used in a variety of industries including Potable water applications (silicone) and gas applications (nitrile). Our materials guide gives a good insight as to the capabilities of all our materials. Of the seven main types of gasket the flange gasket is the most common, it is most commonly used to fit between two sections of pipe, flange gaskets are typically produced using one of the three types as detailed below:
These gaskets are simply cut to size which dependent upon your requirements, may or may not come complete with holes for securing.
Commonly used in offshore applications designed so as work under extreme high pressure.
Spiral wound gaskets
Spiral wound Gaskets are comprised of an outer and inner metal surface with the centre being filled with some other sealing material, which, for example, may be graphite or PTFE. The internal material is formed in a “V” shape which when the two flanges are brought together compresses the “V” and forms the seal.
At Metflex our extensive knowledge of both gaskets and industry sectors gives us the knowledge to be able to advise you of the most suitable elastomer to use for your gasket requirements.
