Loudspeaker surround.

We continually develop unique surround materials for individual drivers. This is our business and we do this on an ongoing basis.

A good loudspeaker surround has several distinct functions.

• To stop resonances passing from the cone to the chassis.
• To stop air from passing round the cone.
• To help centre the driver in conjunction with the spider.

In order to do this the material should not colour the sound. The performance of a surround is very complex as both stiffness and damping of any rubber material will change with frequency.  How Metflex chooses its formulations is based on many years of testing and working with industry. A real understanding of how to compound and formulate for such a complex area takes years of careful research.
